Safe Place

Safe Place - Thea Hallow (2024). Director: Isabel Ion. Editor: Gomolemo Nyakale. For this video we ran with themes of addiction: addiction to a person you know is bad for you, addiction to substances you know are bad for you, and how the two can twist together and sink you. Sugar, cigarettes, alcohol, a toxic lover ... quick endorphin hits that give the illusion of being your safe place and then throw you back out into the cold. We shot the video on VHS as an intimate home movie to give the sense of peeking into Thea's private space, and of course to continue mine and Thea's shared love of the romantic and nostalgic.
